A little clarity before you travel
SeatBadlo helps passengers on the same train and journey date find each other for a voluntary seat or berth exchange. You can request a lower berth or another preference; a match depends on other passengers and their agreement.
Keep your valid ticket. A swap is not a ticket transfer, a new reservation, or a guaranteed upgrade. Ask the TTE or railway staff about any restrictions before changing seats. SeatBadlo is independent of Indian Railways and IRCTC.
Read the seat swapping guideYou can use SeatBadlo to request a voluntary seat or berth exchange with another passenger on the same train and journey date. Both passengers must agree. SeatBadlo does not change your reservation, transfer your ticket, or guarantee a lower berth. Keep your valid ticket and ask railway staff about any restrictions before moving.
SeatBadlo is an Android app that lets train passengers easily swap their reserved seats or berths with co-passengers.
If your swap request didn't go through, it's almost never because of an issue with the app. SeatBadlo works on a community-based matching system — your request is sent to other passengers traveling on the same train and date who have the seat or berth you're looking for. A successful swap depends on whether such a passenger is currently using SeatBadlo and is willing to exchange. Since we are still growing our userbase across India, some trains and routes have fewer active users, which means matches may take longer or sometimes not happen at all. As more passengers join SeatBadlo, the chances of finding a perfect swap will keep improving rapidly. Please don't get discouraged — keep sharing the app with fellow travelers so the community grows and everyone benefits.
SeatBadlo works in 3 simple steps. 1) Enter your PNR or train details and current seat/berth in the app. 2) Select the type of seat or berth you'd prefer (e.g., lower berth, window seat, same coach as family). 3) SeatBadlo automatically matches you with other passengers on the same train and date who are looking to swap. Once a match is found, both parties confirm the swap inside the app — no personal contact details are shared unless you choose to. The entire process is free, voluntary, and based on mutual agreement between passengers.
Keep your PNR and personal details private. Never share OTPs or pay a stranger for a swap. Confirm arrangements with the other passenger and ask railway staff if you are unsure.
No, seat swapping on SeatBadlo is completely free.
No, swaps can only happen between passengers on the same train and journey date.
Just select your current seat and the desired seat, then send a swap request to nearby passengers.
Available options depend on the journey details and seat types supported in the app. Check your train in SeatBadlo; a willing passenger and any applicable railway restrictions determine whether a swap can happen.
It's your convenience—if you want, you can share it. SeatBadlo will never share your phone number with anyone without your permission.
